Christmas cantata to be performed in Gillett

The sixth annual Christmas cantata of St. John’s Lutheran Church will be presented in five shows this month at the church, 101 W. Main St., Gillett.

This year’s cantata, “One Holy Night,” is created by Sue C. Smith and Johnathan Crumpton. It features about an hour of new and old holiday melodies in a Christmas musical setting and features songs such as “Mary, Did You Know?,” “O Little Town of Bethlehem,” “The Birthday of a King,” “Tonight” and “What Child is This?”

Performances take place at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20; 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22; 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 26 and Friday, Dec. 27; and 9:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 29.

Each performance is followed by a reception in the church fellowship hall.

Performing in “One Holy Night” are singers from several area congregations, including Gary Anderson, Rachel Block, Sue Collins, Brenda Danielson, Audrey Eichhorn, Karen Eiseth, Jason Fenendael, Jennifer Fenendael, Joyce Fifield, Lois Hansen, Laura Kaiser, Michaela Kaiser, Samara Kaiser, Darlene Kapelke, Patti Konkle, Leonore Kopitzke, Angel LaCrosse, Jesse Lockstein, Nathan McReynolds, Lyle Nichols, Bobbie Olshesky, Amanda Ondik, Joe Quade, Alex Runge, Nancy Stark, Wayne Strei, Adam Thomson, Claudette Tipton and Cathy Wocking.

Sharing directing duties are Block and McReynolds. Kate Collins and Gary Kopitzke are the narrators, and Strei directs the production.

There is no admission charge, but a free-will offering will be accepted.
