Knights honor Kloes family, Goffard

The Lena Knights of Columbus chose the Richard and Dorothy Kloes family, of rural Oconto, as the council’s Family of the Month for December.

The Kloes are parents of seven children; one daughter is deceased. They also have 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Richard and Dorothy are actively involved with both church and community organizations. Richard is a member of the Lena Knights of Columbus, adjutant with the Doney-DeGrave American Legion Post and member and past officer of the Lena Lions Club.

Dorothy is president of the American Legion Auxiliary and is active promoting the Badger Girls program through the Legion.

Dorothy and Richard also help keep the Lena Veterans Memorial in excellent shape. Their son Richard did a lot of work with the landscaping of the memorial.

Richard and Dorothy are members of the St. Anne’s social concerns committee and the parish activities committee, and both work at the Feed My Sheep Food Pantry at St. Anne’s Parish Center in Lena.

Richard has been a member of the Lena Knights for a number of years and has served as the charity raffle chairman. Each year the council increased the number of tickets sold. He has helped with punt, pass and kick contests, the sixth-grade girls basketball tournament, card parties and free throw contests.

They both worked at the Knights/FFA Alumni Dairyfest food stand.

Jim Goffard was chosen as the Knight of the Month because of his involvement with the council, church and community. He has scanned tickets for the Knights at many Green Bay Packers games, volunteers with the Marinette County Sheriff’s Department, teaches a faith formation class for St. Anne Parish and serves as a lector at weekend Masses.
