Florence L. (Rusch) Winkler, 92, of Underhill, passed away in the evening hours of Thursday, March 30, 2017, at Woodlands of Suring.

She was born at home in the town of Maple Valley on June 13, 1924, a daughter of the late Otto and Lizzie (Luebke) Rusch, and attended the Four-Town Schoolhouse. She was married to Art Winkler on Dec. 4, 1943, and together they raised a daughter and two sons. Florence worked at Friday Canning Company for several years before retiring.

Florence was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Gillett and enjoyed taking bus tours with Art in earlier years.

Florence is survived by her children, Cheryl (Gilman) Smoot, of Minneapolis, Dale Winkler, of Mountain, and Miles (Donna) Winkler, of Gillett; four grandchildren, Nicholas (Kerry) Winkler, of Green Bay, Justin (Phyllis) Smoot, of Kendallville, Indiana, Jenalee (Derek) D’Amico, of Waukesha, and Elizabeth (Ben) Breitenfeldt, of West Allis; great-grandchildren, Payten and Laina Winkler, Lillian and Genevieve Smoot, Bryce D’Amico and Joshua Stangel. She also leaves a sister-in-law, Mildred Winkler, of Suring, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many lifelong friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Art; and her siblings, Norman, Walter, Arlyle, Olivia, Harold and Eugene.

Friends and relatives may call on Wednesday, April 5, 2017, from 5-8 p.m. at Legacy Funeral Chapels, 108 E. Main St., Gillett. Visitation continues Thursday, April 6, 2017, from 9:30-10:45 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 101 W. Main St., Gillett. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Kent Wallace officiating. Interment will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery.
