Suring’s Vollmar wins 3 events at Luxemburg-Casco triangular

Suring senior Will Vollmar won the long jump, 100-meter dash and 200 as the Eagles finished second at the Luxemburg-Casco High School triangular April 4.

The host Spartans won the boys and girls meets.

Cody Johnson (discus), Johnathan Miller (shot put) and John Christensen (high jump) added individual victories for Suring, and the 3,200 relay team of Ryan Mahoney, Conner Giese, Scout Gerndt and Chris Geniesse defeated the host Spartans by just over a full second.

Johnson (118 feet, 5 inches) bested Luxemburg-Casco’s Bryce Christoph by 3 inches while Miller (43-10) cleared Luxemburg-Casco’s Trevor VandenBush by nearly 2 full feet.

Christensen dominated the high jump competition by reaching 6-3. Luxemburg-Casco’s Evan Tust finished second at 5-6.

In the girls meet, Suring’s Katie Stegeman (6:07) won the mile by three seconds,. Blake Seppel won the 400 (1:05.33) by roughly one second.

Stegeman and Seppel each added second-place finishes in the 800 and 100, respectively. Stegeman was also 2 inches shy of Luxemburg-Casco’s Makenzie Tutle’s winning 4-10 in the high jump.

Gillett’s Lauren Herzog finished first in the 3,200 (13:15), and Grace Wickman (83 feet, 10 inches) won the discus by nearly two full feet.

Gillett’s top finisher for the boys was Aaron Reiners (57.76) in the 400 with a second.
