A Suring man died and another person was hospitalized after a three-vehicle crash Friday afternoon in the town of Breed northwest of Suring.

The Oconto County Sheriff’s Department identified the victim as Robert Scott Lusardi, 30, of Suring.

Lt. Keven Thomson said authorities were notified about the crash on state Highway 32 near Central Road about 3:10 p.m. Friday.

According to Thomson’s news release, the preliminary investigation indicated that Lusardi’s northbound vehicle had slowed to make a left-hand turn and was rear-ended by another northbound vehicle. The force of the collision pushed the first vehicle into the path of a southbound vehicle, causing a second collision.

Lusardi was pronounced dead at the scene, Thomson said. A passenger from the southbound vehicle was injured and taken to a hospital.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash.

The Oconto County Sheriff’s Office, Gillett Area Ambulance, Suring Fire Department and County Rescue Eagle 3 performed rescue operations and traffic management.

The crash remains under investigation, Thomson said.

A relative has posted a GoFundMe.com page to help pay for Lusardi’s funeral expenses.
