Thomas Franklin Hischke, 80, of Mascotte, Florida, and Madison, died Sept. 12, 2017, after a short battle with cancer. He was born on March 17, 1937, in Oconto Falls to Paul and Marie (Elfe) Hischke.

Tom graduated as salutatorian from Suring High in 1955. He served in the U.S. Army from 1957-1960 in the Nike/Hercules program. He was honorably discharged as an E5/SP5. Tom joined the Madison Police Department as a recruit in 1965. He served the city, rising through the ranks until he retired as a captain in 1992.

Tom is survived by his wife, Bonnie; his son, Brian (Dana) Hischke; a stepdaughter, Bridgit (William) Roeth; a stepson, Robert Harper; three grandchildren, Sara Roeth, Andrew Roeth and Benjamin Hischke; and many close family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Marie Hischke, and his siblings, Lois Mehl, Muriel Firgins and David Hischke.

A funeral service celebrating Tom’s life will be held on Saturday, Oct. 14, at 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Madison.
