Beverly J. Arneson

Beverly J. Arneson, 85, Oconto Falls, died early Wednesday morning, Nov. 1, 2017, at the home she shared with her sister, Neva, for 12 years, with family present. Bev valiantly fought cancer for over 30 years. She was born Sept. 8, 1932, in the Town of Spruce to Lars and Angeline (Reed) Johnson. Bev grew up on the family farm in Spruce and attended school, graduating from Oconto Falls High School with the class of 1949. Following graduation, she attended Marinette Normal Teachers College and earned her teaching degree in elementary education.

On Jan. 27, 1951, she married Erling D. Arneson at Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in the Town of Maple Valley. Following their marriage, the couple lived in southwestern Wisconsin before moving back to Shawano, Gillett and the Oconto Falls area, living in the Town of Morgan for 23 years. Bev taught in area one-room schools for seven years and later substitute taught in Oconto Falls Public Schools. She was a member of Our Redeemer’s Lutheran Church in Maple Valley and the Oconto County Homemakers. Bev’s family has many fond memories spent at the family home on Shawano Lake over the years.

Survivors are her five children, Tyrone (Donna) Arneson Sr., Cascade, Keith (Debbie) Arneson, Sheboygan, Steven (Patricia “Patty”) Arneson, Newton, Darryl (Katie) Arneson, Sheboygan, Lisa (Greg) Onesti, Shawano; one son-in-law, Mike Olsen, Shawano; 18 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Neva Hodge-Lemorande, Oconto Falls; Dora Slang, Suring; Laurel Herich, Lake Geneva; one brother, Virgil Johnson, North Dakota; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Erling in 2005, son Kim in 1990, daughter Debra Olsen in 2008, five brothers, Lars, Ronald, Kenneth, Clyde and Dale (Philipsen) Johnson and three sisters, Mae Olick, Audrey Kralovetz and Wilma Valenta.

Visitation was held after 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, 2017, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in the Town of Maple Valley until the time of service. Funeral services were held at noon Saturday at the church with Pastor Bethany Rutten-Kempees officiating. Cremation was to follow with burial of the urn in the Town of Morgan Cemetery. Jones Funeral Service in Oconto Falls is serving the Arneson family.
