Abrams Spotlight Productions Inc. will hold auditions for its fall show, “Cabaret,” the flashy musical set in a 1920s Berlin nightclub.

Rated PG-13, “Cabaret” explores the dark, heady and tumultuous life of Berlin’s natives and expatriates as Germany slowly yields to the emerging Third Reich. Cliff, a young American writer newly arrived in Berlin, is immediately taken by English singer Sally Bowles. Meanwhile, Fräulein Schneider, proprietor of Cliff and Sally’s boarding house, tentatively begins a romance with Herr Schultz, a mild-mannered fruit seller who happens to be Jewish.

Performers will have two opportunities to audition, from 6-8 p.m. Monday or 6-8 p.m. June 20 at the Byng Community Theater, 5852 Maple St., Abrams. Anyone interested in a principal role should prepare a two-minute vocal audition and provide sheet music or a karaoke track.

Those interested in supporting or chorus roles will be asked to sing as a group. Individuals are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes and shoes to participate in dance auditions. Anyone 16 and older is encouraged to audition.

Performance dates are Sept. 13-16 and 20-23. “Cabaret” is presented by arrangement with Tams-Witmark Music Library Inc. For information, visit or call 920-826-5852.
