Viola Emily Fedler, Gillett, 103, passed away on Monday, July 23, 2018, just shy of her 104th birthday. Her family was at her side.

Viola was born in the Town of Maple Valley on July 29, 1914, a daughter of the late Leo and Olga (Fischer) Neuman. She attended area schools and married Raymond G. Fedler on Sept. 29, 1934. Together they raised two sons and farmed for more than 30 years in the Town of Gillett. She also worked for a time at Mirro Aluminum.

Viola was a longtime, faithful member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Gillett. She loved gardening and canning and always took good care of those who needed help. Viola was also involved with the Valley Line Homemakers. She will be sadly missed.

Viola is survived by her sons: Len (Sue) Fedler of Gillett and Ron (Jan) Fedler of Dodgeville. She also leaves her grandchildren: Roger (Lisa) Fedler, Rick Fedler, Chad (Suzanne) Fedler, Lindsay (John) Campbell, Bailey Fedler and Lily Fedler; her step-grandchildren Lisa (Wes) Mallo and Lori (Dave) Klingenberg; great-grandchildren Deseray, Cheyenne and Sean; and her step-great-grandchildren Amber and Cal, Lauren and Andrew.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Raymond, her brothers Hugo (Elsie) and Rudy (Martha) Neuman, her sister Leone Belke, and her grandson, Rusty Fedler.

The family sends special thanks to the staff of Unity Hospice and Serenity Gardens of Gillett for their care of Viola.
