A native of Gillett, Scott Winkler recently published a new book set in a town much like his hometown. (Contributed photo)

Former “Gillettonian” Scott Winkler will be returning to Gillett, his hometown (and the fictionalized setting of his new book “The Meadow”) from 4-6 p.m. Thursday at the Gillett Public Library Community Center, 204 E. Main St.
Winkler plans to do a book reading, Q&A and book signing with refreshments following the reading. This event coincides with the library’s Downtown Market in the Square, which meets 4-6 p.m. every Thursday.
In addition to being an author, Winkler is a husband, father, teacher and scholar, and a concerned citizen of a nation yet to achieve its potential. He is a graduate of St. Norbert College, and he earned both his master’s and Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. His work, both creative and academic, has appeared in a variety of publications ranging from “The Journal of Popular Culture” and “Aethlon” to “Elysian Fields Quarterly” and “Peninsula Pulse,” among others. His first book, “The Wide Turn Toward Home,” was published in 2008. Winkler and his family live in rural Wisconsin.
