Proceedings of July 31

Rick L. Wappler, 37, Cascade, pleaded no contest to possession of THC (second or subsequent offense) in connection with an incident that occurred Oct. 6. Judge Michael T. Judge ordered a presentence investigation and scheduled sentencing for Sept. 17.

Richard R. Volm, 58, Pound, pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of possession of a controlled substance in connection with an incident that occurred Oct. 6. The charge was reduced from a felony in a plea agreement. He also pleaded no contest to possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor case stemming from a Nov. 20 incident. He was sentenced to 60 days in the county jail.

Proceedings of July 30

Cody J. Meyer, 30, Oconto Falls, pleaded not guilty to a charge of possession of narcotic drugs (second or subsequent offense) in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred July 8. Judge Jay N. Conley scheduled a pretrial conference for Thursday and denied a defense motion to modify Meyer’s $2,500 cash bond.

After a preliminary hearing, Ronald J. Asp, 59, Suring, was bound over on a charge of possession of narcotic drugs and two related misdemeanors, in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred May 25. Arraignment was scheduled for Thursday.

James A. Shallow, 59, Oconto, waived his right to a preliminary hearing and was bound over on charges of strangulation-suffocation and false imprisonment, along with misdemeanor battery and disorderly conduct, in connection with an incident that allegedly occurred May 20. Arraignment was scheduled for Wednesday.
