Greetings, Morgan! October is Fire Prevention Month. As October comes to a close and heating season arrives, it is important to take time to talk to all members of your household about being mindful of fire safety and prevention.

Green Valley-Morgan Fire Department personnel visited students at Fairview School again this year as part of the Fire Prevention Week activities. The 2018 theme for Fire Prevention Week was “Look, Listen and Learn.” The main messages to students were to look for things that would start a fire, listen for your smoke alarms and learn your two escape routes.

Although these messages were aimed at students, people of all ages could benefit from reflecting on these three basic concepts. Students from 4-year-old kindergarten through fifth grade also had the opportunity to see the different types of firefighting equipment during the fire department’s visit.

Town Hall sign

As you pass by the new town hall, you likely have noticed the new electronic sign located near the hall driveway on County Road C. This sign can be considered one of the very finishing touches of the new town hall building project.

Did you know that town residents may request to have community information or event notices displayed on this sign? If you are interested, contact any town board member for information. This could be the perfect opportunity to get the word out about your upcoming event or share a small bit of news with your neighbors.

Election Tuesday

Remember to vote in the Nov. 6 general election. Many state-level races are on this ballot. The town hall is open for polling from 7 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Election Day. Use the entrance located on the east side of the building, and remember to bring a valid photo ID. Thank you to all the poll workers who work carefully to ensure that voting runs smoothly.

The next regular town board meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Nov. 12.
