Erwin E. Bonatz, 85, of Mountain, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Nov. 10, 2018, with his family by his side. Erwin was born on Oct. 9, 1933, to the late Ernest and Margaret (Martens) Bonatz. On June 27, 1983, Erwin married Erika Zimmer. Erwin was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother-in-law and uncle.

Erwin is survived by his wife of 35 years, Erika; five children from Erwin’s previous marriage to Irene Ahrens Bonatz, Erwin (Su) Bonatz Jr., Fred Bonatz, Linda (Edward) Swanson, Eric (Donna) Bonatz and Ralph (Mary) Bonatz; former daughter-in-law, Karen Bonatz; nine grandchildren, Michael, Carol (Colin), David, Julia, Kyle, Stuart (Alina), Kurt, Lisa and Grant; eight great-grandchildren, Robert, Daniel, Felicity, Natalie, Alexandra, Greta, Karl and Elsa; and a sister, Eleanor Pascher. He is further survived by his in-laws in the Zimmer family and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; father- and mother-in-law, Stefan and Josefina Zimmer; four brothers-in-law, Frank Pascher, Stefan Zimmer, Mathias Zimmer and John Robertson; sister-in-law, Elsa Sheridan.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Erwin on Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018, at The Weatherwood (12898 State Highway 32, Mountain, WI 54149) from noon to 3:30 p.m. Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring is assisting the family with arrangements.
