WRESTLING
Oconto Falls places sixth at invitational

The Panthers turned in a number of strong finishes while earning 123 points to place sixth at the E.H. Stech Invitational over Friday and Saturday (Dec. 14-15).
Jager Eisch scored 24 of those points after taking second in the 113-pound weight class.
Collin Schindel (120), Clayton Whiting (152) and Trevor Pankratz (170) all came in third for Oconto Falls. Wyatt Borkovec (160) placed fourth.
Lemens leads co-op at invitational
Gillett/Suring’s Sam Lemens continued his strong start to the winter season by winning each of his matches to place first in the 145 weight class at the Kewaunee Invitational on Saturday (Dec. 15).
Jake Burt (285) placed third for Gillett/Suring.
Lena/STAA competes in Shawano Holiday Classic
Six Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas Academy co-op wrestlers competed in the Shawano Holiday Classic on Saturday (Dec. 15), earning a total of 85 points to take 14th in the 17-team tournament.
Richard Feick (285) came in ninth while Kiko Cajigas (160) was 10th.
Panthers win 3 of 4 at NEC quad
Oconto Falls won three of its four dual matches on Thursday (Dec. 13), topping Clintonville/Marion (78-0), Fox Valley Lutheran (67-3) and Little Chute (45-28). The Panthers only loss came against Denmark (45-25).
Trevor Pankratz, Jager Eisch, Collin Schindel, Clayton Whiting and Wyatt Borkovec did not lose a match on the night. Tyler Budz, Caleb Carlton and Elijah Zielinski all picked up three wins.
BOYS BASKETBALL
Oconto Falls 78, Waupaca 74

The Panthers had four players score in double figures and held off the Comets in a tight North Eastern Conference battle on Friday (Dec. 14). Oconto Falls hit 14 3-pointers in the game.
Connor Peetz led the way for Oconto Falls, connecting on five 3-pointers while tallying 26 points. Mitch Manns added 14 points while Dakota Carriveau and Dylan Nelson contributed 13 and 10 points, respectively.
Carriveau and Nelson each grabbed seven rebounds while Carriveau also had three steals. Manns led the team with five assists while Nelson had four.
Wausaukee 69, Gillett 59
The Tigers could not hold a five-point lead in a Marinette & Oconto Conference loss to the Rangers on Thursday (Dec. 13).
Elijah Framnes scored 20 points for Gillett, while Anthony Carroll and Logan Block each added 16. Cole Long had the team’s other seven points.
Carroll grabbed 10 rebounds while Long had nine.
Suring 84, STAA 7
The Eagles dominated the Cavaliers from start to finish in a M&O matchup on Thursday.
Four Suring players scored in double figures, led by Dequez Sepulveda and Mitch Stegeman, who each scored 18 points.
Jayden Geniesse and Caleb Lally each contributed 12 points. Reece Garrigan chipped in eight points.
Coleman 78, Lena 39
The Wildcats could not keep pace with the Cougars in a M&O matchup on Thursday.
Colby Borchert was the only Lena player in double figures, tallying 14 points. Logan Shallow added six points.
Freedom 66, Oconto Falls 37
The Panthers could not slow down the Irish in a NEC clash on Dec. 11.
Mitch Manns led Oconto Falls with 14 points. No other Panther had over five points.
Oconto Falls shot just 30 percent from the floor and made half of its 20 free throws.
Oneida Nation 45, Gillett 28
The Tigers were stifled by the Thunderhawks in a M&O clash on Dec. 10.
Cole Long tallied 11 points for Gillett in the loss. He also grabbed eight rebounds.
Logan Block totaled eight points and nine rebounds while Bo Krueger and Anthony Carroll pulled down seven and six boards, respectively.
Coleman 58, Suring 40
The Eagles were held to just 13 first half points in an eventual M&O loss to the Cougars on Dec. 10.
Caleb Lally posted 18 points for Suring while Mitch Stegeman added 14.
Lena 55, Niagara 51
The Wildcats scratched out a tight M&O victory over the Badgers on Dec. 10.
Colby Borchert led the charge for Lena, pouring in 24 points. Ralph Comins added 11 points while Max Beyer and Colt Carroll each added six.
Lena outscored Niagara 33-23 in the second half to overcome a halftime deficit.
GIRLS BASKETBALL
Little Chute 67, Oconto Falls 45

The Panthers were outscored by 11 points in each half of a NEC loss to the Mustangs on Thursday.
Morgan Helmle led Oconto Falls with 12 points while Natalie Brauer added 10.
Katelyn Albrecht and Kari Albrecht each contributed eight points.
Oneida Nation 74, Lena 23
The Wildcats could not slow the Thunderhawks in a M&O matchup on Friday.
Alayna Peterson, Meckenna Portier and Maddy Herald all scored five points for Lena.
Oconto Falls 68, Menasha 53
A big first half helped the Panthers down the Bluejays in a nonconference matchup on Dec. 11.
Sammy Shallow and Alexis Euclide scored 11 points each to pace Oconto Falls.
Natalie Brauer posted 10 points while Breanna Sadowski and Morgan Helmle each scored seven.
Gillett 65, Coleman 42
The Tigers eased past the Cougars in M&O action on Dec. 11.
Karissa Schaal tallied 24 points to power Gillett on the offensive end. Aubrey DeBauch added 17 points.
Gillett built a 20-point halftime lead after holding Coleman to just 15 points in the first 18 minutes of play.
Wausaukee 69, Suring 37
The Eagles fell to the Rangers in a M&O clash on Dec 11. Suring scored just 16 first half points.
Wylee Van Bellinger scored 10 points for Suring. No other player had over five points.
Florence 47, Lena 34
The Wildcats came up a bit short in a nonconference battle with the Bobcats on Dec. 11.
Meckenna Portier scored 11 points for Lena. Alayna Peterson and Maddy Herald each contributed nine points.
