St. John’s presents 10th annual Easter cantata

An ecumenical community choir will present “The Cross of Christ” during the days following Easter Sunday in the 10th annual Easter cantata at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 101 W. Main St., Gillett.

“The Cross of Christ” is a worshipful Easter celebration arranged by Cliff Duren. It includes well-known Easter melodies such as “It Took a Lamb” from Geron Davis, “The Wondrous Cross” and “The Cross of Christ” from Passion, as well as more contemporary selections like “I Will Boast” from Chris Tomlin and “Hosanna (Praise is Rising)” from Paul BaLoche.

“The Cross of Christ” will be performed four times: 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 23; 7 p.m. Friday, April 26; 10:30 a.m. Sunday, April 28; and 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 1. There is no admission fee but a freewill offering will be accepted. Each performance will be followed by a dessert reception. St. John’s Lutheran Church is handicapped-accessible to all.

The performances feature Kayla Blumreich, Micki Carlson, John Darga, Judy Darga, Shirley Dittman, Jason Fenendael, Jenny Fenendael, Tricia Fischer, Anita Graziano, Derek Hanson, Kurt Hicks, Carol Jossie, Darlene Kapelke, Patti Konkle, Bobbie Olshesky, Joe Quade, Patty Stabbe, Wayne Strei, Donny Svitak, Chique Tousey-Tabar, Mark Vorpahl, Wendy Vorpahl, Cathy Wocking, Sandy Wright, Doug Yahnke, Alex Young and Rick Zill.

Solos are performed by Carol Jossie, Donny Svitak and Wendy Vorpahl. Narrators are Doug Yahnke or Gary Kopitzke. Wayne Strei is the director and Dan Wright handles the sound.
