Greetings, Morgan. With the end of the school year now in sight, this column will highlight the wrestling achievements of two student athletes from Morgan, brothers Tyler Budz and Landon Budz.

This school year, Tyler is a junior at Oconto Falls High School and wrestled in the 126-pound weight class. Tyler has wrestled for 13 years and was a qualifier for the state wrestling tournament in Madison this past February, with a season record of 25-18. He has had many experiences competing in the state tournament, qualifying every year except once since he was in second grade. One thing Tyler is especially proud of is placing first in the freestyle state competition and third in the greco state competition when he was a sixth-grader.

When he’s not wrestling, Tyler has a part-time job at Arby’s in Abrams and also likes to play baseball. He enjoys going to Timber Rattlers games with his grandparents, as well as following the Brewers and Bucks on television.

Landon is an eighth-grader in Oconto Falls and has been wrestling for nine years. His season record in the 95-pound weight class was 25-4. Landon was a qualifier for the youth state wrestling tournament this year and has been for five years, missing out on qualifying for the state tournament only twice. He has also placed at the freestyle and greco state competitions. One of his career highlights is placing at the national competition.

Besides wrestling, Landon is also on the middle school football and track teams. He enjoys going to Lake Lundgren Bible Camp, as well as playing the video game Fortnite and going swimming at Wisconsin Dells water parks.

Tyler and Landon are sons of Peter and Jennifer Budz, and they are the grandsons of Norbert and Peggy Budz, of Morgan; Robin and Gene Peterson, of Krakow; and Dan Hoffman, of Kelly Lake. The boys also have four younger siblings: Abigail, Camdyn, Emma, and Isabella. Congratulations to Tyler and Landon on each of your wrestling accomplishments and best wishes for many future successes.
