An Oconto Falls High School senior is one of just 11 students across North America to receive a Burger King Scholars Regional Employee Award from Burger King’s philanthropic foundation.

The Burger King McLamore Foundation presented the $5,000 scholarship to Mackenzie Staidl of Oconto Falls, who plans to use the award to attend University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point, majoring in English and Drama.

Staidl has maintained a high GPA throughout her academic career at Oconto Falls High School, while also being an active member of several clubs and participating in several productions in her high school career.

In addition to working as a team member at the Oconto Falls Burger King, she is involved in her high school’s drama club, FFA, student council, band, jazz band, choir, vocal jazz, and forensics team. She is a class officer, president of the FFA, and a member of the National Honor Society.

Staidl is a National Anthem soloist and volunteers at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.

“Mackenzie is such an asset to our restaurant team, and to our community. We are so proud of the future she’s creating for herself and are honored to play a small role in it,” said Jennifer Taege, director of operations for PIP Corp., a Burger King franchise. “Mackenzie goes above and beyond everyone’s expectations in all areas—her school work, community involvement, and of course, her role here at our Burger King restaurant.”
