Local baseball teams recently discovered what teams they would first be facing in the postseason when the WIAA released playoff brackets.

Oconto Falls earned a No. 5 seed in Division 2. The Panthers will open the postseason against a familiar foe, taking on fourth-seeded Marinette, a North Eastern Conference opponent, on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in a regional quarterfinal.

The Panthers split with Marinette this season, winning 7-1 in Marinette on May 6 but losing 3-1 to the Marines the following day in Oconto Falls.

The Gillett/Suring co-op snagged a No. 8 seed in the postseason. The co-op with travel to take on top-seeded Peshtigo on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in a Division 3 regional quarterfinal.

If Gillett/Suring can pull the upset, it would either play at fourth-seeded Oconto or fifth-seeded Northland Pines in a regional semifinal matchup on May 28.

Lena/St. Thomas Aquinas Academy was handed a No. 7 seed. The co-op will travel to take on the Green Bay N.E.W. Lutheran/Providence co-op on Thursday in a Division 4 regional quarterfinal.
