American Legion baseball: Oconto Falls splits with Wittenberg

The Oconto Falls Legion baseball team bounced back from a 7-5 loss with a 9-8 victory in the second game of a doubleheader at Wittenberg on June 21.

Wittenberg scored all seven of its runs in the first inning in game one. Braden Uelmen pitched the final five innings for Oconto Falls, holding the hosts scoreless to nearly allow the team to pull a comeback.

Andrew Klein reached base three times in the contest and scored two runs. Connor Peetz also got on base three times.

Oconto Falls scored five runs across the fifth and sixth innings to snag the victory in game two. Sam Virtues scored three runs for Oconto Falls, which also scored four times in the third inning. Tucker Bouche pitched the final four innings after Tyler Mielke had worked the first two.

Oconto Falls 2, Bonduel 0

Oconto Falls defended its home turf with a tight win over Bonduel on June 17.

Mason Sefcik picked up the win on the mound for Oconto Falls. He allowed just one hits and one walk over seven innings. Sefcik struck out seven batters.

Jacob Foster scored in the second inning to put Oconto Falls ahead, before Dylan Nelson scored in the fifth as an insurance run. Mitch Manns reached base two times in the winning effort.
