OCONTO FALLS: Dr. Bell, of Fond du Lac, has decided to locate in Oconto Falls for the practice of dentistry. He has leased rooms formerly occupied by Dr. Goddard in the bank building. Dr. Bell is a comparatively young man of the modern school, with sufficient experience to enable him “to handle all kinds of work in his profession.” He will be here July 1.

OCONTO COUNTY: SEARCHING FOR A WIFE - Am mining man, 34 years old, never married, good health, character, and some accomplishments. OCONTO: The opening of the Oconto hospital will be received with pleasure by many in Oconto County. Dr. Clarke expects to open the hospital next Tuesday and all doctors will use the hospital for operations.

OCONTO FALLS: Rooms Wanted - Persons having rooms to rent to teachers or tuition pupils will confer a favor by reporting same to Principal E. Witter. Also, those who can accommodate boy or girl students who wish to work for their board while attending school are asked to notify Mr. Witter.

UNDERHILL: William Herman Lemmert, who for the past 26 years has been a resident of Underhill, was called to the Great Beyond on Thursday, June 20, following an illness of several months.

SURING: Miss Elizabeth Hall was married to Peter Wagner of Green Valley, Thursday morning at St. Michael’s Catholic Church. They will make their home on the groom’s farm in Green Valley.

OCONTO FALLS: The fire department responded to the home of Gottlieb Tisch Tuesday afternoon after a gasoline stove exploded. The fire was put out without too much trouble.

OCONTO: The water carnival hosted over the weekend in Oconto drew such a big crowd that many visitors could not even get to the banks of the river to witness the races. It was the first of a series of events put together by the Green Bay Waters Association.

LENA: Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Armstrong are the proud parents of twin boys born Saturday morning, June 24.

OCONTO FALLS: The new barn on the A.P. Lehner farm southwest of the city was destroyed by fire about 8 o’clock on Tuesday evening. The barn was 36 by 100 feet. The loss is set at approximately $6,800.

SPRUCE: Funeral services were held Tuesday for Joseph Peck, 79, services held from the Sacred Heart Church, and interment was in the Spruce Cemetery.

LENA: Four hundred people attended an Archer’s Farmer’s party at Kobes Hall in Lena on Wednesday evening, sponsored by the Lena Flour and Feed here.

UNDERHILL: A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Germaine Gruening, Underhill, Route 1, on June 21.

OCONTO FALLS: John Vizelka was pleasantly surprised on Tuesday evening by relations and friends, the occasion being his birthday.

LENA: Allen Hansen was graduated from the University of Wisconsin on June 8 with a Bachelor of Science in mining engineering and also Bachelor of Naval Sciences.

GILLETT: On Sunday afternoon and evening, relatives and friends gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Schneider to help them celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary.

GILLETT: The Rev. R.C. Stevenvoll performed the 2 o’clock marriage ceremony on Saturday uniting Miss Donna Genke and William Delzer Jr.

GILLETT: Helen Moser married Gary Lisowe on June 21. Lois Meyers and Don Lisowe attended the bridal couple.

GILLETT: Donald Wagner graduated from the Southern Technical Institute in Marietta, Georgia, where he received an associate degree in gas engineering technology and in air condition technology.

MOUNTAIN: Sheriff John Fisher reported a 23-year-old man pleaded innocent to a charge of vagrancy. The young man had been living in an automobile for more than two months near Chute Pond.

OCONTO: A collision involving a horse ridden by Ernest Frye and an automobile was investigated by county traffic officers. The horse was injured in the hind quarters by a car operated by Francis Cook, Oconto.

OCONTO: A cow owned by Gordon Bickel was killed when it wandered onto Liegeois Road. There was heavy damage to the car driven by Ralph Liegeois.

OCONTO: Damage was considerable when pickup trucks driving by Roy Noack and Wayne Noack collided on Highway 41.

OCONTO COUNTY: The Oconto County Dairy Promotions Breakfast on the Farm held June 17 attracted 4,000 people.

OCONTO FALLS: The groundbreaking ceremony was held at the Chateau Apartments located on Farm Road across from Oconto Falls High School.

GILLETT: Karen and Warren Eiseth have been selected at grand marshals of the 1989 Fourth of July parade in Gillett.

KELLY LAKE: Mary and Guy Banister celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary June 25 with dinner at Anderson Lake, and they enjoyed visits from neighbors and relatives at their Kelly Lake home.

SURING: Robert Asplund, 58, County Road Z, died unexpectedly at home Friday, June 24.

GILLETT: The grand marshals of the Gillett Fourth of July parade for 1994 will be Bud and Velma Yancy. The Yancys have been members of the Gillett community for the past 34 years.

LENA: James Steffeck, 47, died Saturday, June 19, at Bay Area Medical Center, Marinette.

LENA: Seven retirees traveled to Lena from other states and places in Wisconsin to work as Builders for Christ and frame a new church for the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Lena.

UNDERHILL: Duran Schroeder, Bloom Road, Underhill, reported the theft of an all-terrain vehicle, two bicycles, two down-riggers, fishing rods and assorted tools from a storage shed.

OCONTO FALLS: Oconto Falls native Ingrid Nelson won two games of “Jeopardy!” before placing second in the third game, winning almost $30,000.

GILLETT: The Gillett School Board said goodbye to District Administrator Stuart Rivard and approved a two-year contract for Roy Jonjak as the new administrator.

OCONTO COUNTY: The installation of new, high-powered transmission lines is making its way into Oconto County as the American Transmission Company is working to connect existing lines to the Morgan Substation south of Oconto Falls.
