Katelyn Albrecht and Emma Huberty capped their high school softball careers by playing in the Wisconsin Fastpitch Softball Coaches Association All-Star Games in Wisconsin Dells on June 18.

The Oconto Falls High School duo enjoyed the two-day experience, which included time at a water park, banquet and Tommy Bartlett Show on June 17 before playing a pair of games at Woodside Sports Complex on June 18.

“The experience was cool because I was surrounded by people who loved the game as much as I did. It was also a cool atmosphere,” said Huberty, who made the North Eastern Conference first team this spring after hitting for a .368 average and homering three times.

“The experience was amazing, every girl was there because they were the best and to be included in that group was incredible,” said Albrecht, who was an honorable mention pick this spring and finished the season with a .342 average and .421 on-base percentage.

The duo got to meet and play against some of the top seniors in the state, making new friends along the way.

Albrecht and Huberty were on the Division 2/3 Blue team that included Joia Simonson (Portage), Olivia Bobak (Monroe), Kelsey Hill (Shoreland Lutheran), Katie Breunig (Lodi), Jessie Clift (Lake Mills), Allison Feucht (Mayville), Olivia Limmex (Portage), Honoria Schabel (Mayville), Madison Moore (Edgewood), Hailey Betthauser (Monroe) and Briana Jessie (Lake Mills).

“Being able to play with and against the top seniors in the state was like playing a whole different game — everybody playing was there because they deserved it and that showed,” said Albrecht, who will continue her softball career at the collegiate level for Concordia University. “There were some amazing plays and hits that I would not have seen in conference.”

“To play against the top players in the state was interesting because every position had a good player. There was no weak spot,” Huberty said.

Aside from the personal achievements and numbers, Albrecht and Huberty helped form an Oconto Falls team that advanced to sectionals this spring.

Stats from the all-star games were not available by the Times Herald’s press time.
